Bossa vibe, Bossy views at Sunset
Summer’s here, and what better than to kick back on a breezy terrace to while the sultry night away. From a petite Parisian neighbourhood laneway to an oh-so-sexy deck in Istanbul, here are some of our favourite alfresco dinner haunts in Europe. Oh, put those sunnies away, Susan, it’s supper time.

Med tastes at La Venta
Barcelona - La Venta. This antique C.19th villa more than 200m above sea-level on the hill of Tibidabo is a feast for the eyes, with its modernista architecture and sweeping views over Barca. It’s a feast for the tum too, so book yourself on the terrace to chow down on the Med-Italian menu of market-fresh delights, featuring the likes of seared tuna with piquant salsa.

Park on the deck at Nola's
Berlin – Nola’s. Berliners just lurve their parks in summer and this modernist chalet’s 180-degree deck atop the knoll in Weinberg Park, just off art strip Brunnenstrasse, is one of the best places to enjoy it. You may spot the odd nude lolling about in the fresh green grass, but order up a fondue from the Swiss-Italian menu and you’ll soon be happily cheesy too.

Paris – Frenchie. This pocket-sized exposed brick and wood bistro helmed by Nantes native and Jamie Oliver alum Gregory Marchaud is always booked out, so do reserve, especially if you want a seat on the sliver of a terrace to savour the seasonal, locavore fare. The bistro is located in a bijou cobblestoned laneway, so take in the ‘hood amby from the Lilliputian tables and tuck into plates on his menu that changes daily. If you’re lucky, you might get to try Greg’s house-smoked fish. C’est délicieux!
